{"id":1627,"date":"2025-07-02T10:57:01","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T08:57:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/terza-missione.di.unipi.it\/public-engagement\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T08:58:41","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T06:58:41","slug":"public-engagement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/terza-missione.di.unipi.it\/en\/public-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Engagement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\" data-start=\"155\" data-end=\"557\"><strong data-start=\"662\" data-end=\"683\">Public Engagement<\/strong>, also referred to as <strong data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"717\">Outreach<\/strong>, includes all initiatives of educational, cultural, or social value through which the university communicates and collaborates with the general public.<br data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"872\" \/>Such activities may include public events, open laboratories, lectures, partnerships with schools, science festivals, and other opportunities for engaging with society at large.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Scientific outreach activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"606\">The Department of Computer Science participates in several initiatives, often in connection with local, national, and international events.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/didattica.di.unipi.it\/orientamento\/iniziative-orientamento\/informatica-spazio-aperto\/\"><strong>Informatica Spazio Aperto (ISA)<\/strong><\/a>: a series of events aimed at students, schools, families, and the general public. The goal is to provide a realistic, non-stereotypical perspective on what studying computer science means today and what opportunities, in terms of education, research, and careers, may open up over time.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bright-night.it\/\">BRIGHT<\/a><\/strong>, The European Researchers\u2019 Night: an annual event held throughout Europe on the last Friday of September, with the goal of bringing the general public closer to the world of science and research.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.internetfestival.it\/\">Internet Festival &#8211; Forme di futuro<\/a> <\/strong>&#8211; A rich programme of labs, workshops, tutorials, performances, exhibitions, installations, and interactive talks for all ages, celebrating the digital revolution. The coordinator of the Festival\u2019s Scientific Committee is Prof. <a href=\"mailto:gian-luigi.ferrari@unipi.it\">Gian-Luigi Ferrari<\/a>, while Prof. <a href=\"mailto:fabio.gadducci@unipi.it\">Fabio Gadducci<\/a>\u00a0is a member of the Festival\u2019s Executive Committee.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/roboticafestival.it\/\"><strong>Festival della Robotica (Robotics Festival)<\/strong><\/a>: a series of events combining science outreach, debates, and entertainment, dedicated to the broad areas of technology and innovation, and their most recent applications in everyday life, both present and future.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/quantumfestival.it\/\"><strong>Quantum Festival<\/strong><\/a>: the first outreach conference in Italy dedicated to quantum computing, promoted by the Departments of Computer Science and Physics of the University and organized by the members of the Pisa Quantum Group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Educational Events<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another activity of the Department is the organization or co-organization of programming contests and science Olympiads.
